Schneider Electric Releases Vijeo Historian V4.20

Sydney, Australia, [December, 2009] - With the release of Schneider Electric's Vijeo Historian V4.20, the plant floor and boardroom have never been closer. This powerful plant-wide historian collects, historicises and distributes reporting data, ensuring senior management's process evaluation and decision-making are supported by the right levels of plant detail and, best of all, in an accessible and business-focused form.

Vijeo Historian is part of Schneider Electric's SoCollaborative software suite which is designed to deliver a comprehensive and easy-to-navigate automation software solution for seamless compatibility with Schneider Electric hardware.

With this release, Vijeo Historian V4.20's array of enhancements will help customers achieve better connectivity, more effective analysis and improved energy efficiency.

Peter Hogg, Global Director, Vijeo Citect, predicts, "This release will have a valuable impact on process improvements and operational efficiencies. Vijeo Historian V4.20 now enables smarter decision making thanks to the inclusion of Process Analyst. The addition of this tool provides access to a far greater amount of process data across much longer time periods for more robust data analysis."

Universal accessibility and interoperability are significantly enhanced with the introduction of an OPC DA client. The inclusion of this industry standard protocol enables seamless connectivity to multiple third party SCADA systems. With the OPC DA client talking directly to Schneider Electric devices, Vijeo Historian provides a holistic picture of all data sources. "True interoperability is now within reach," remarks Frost & Sullivan's Industry Director, Ivan Fernandez, on the addition of the OPC DA client.

"And with Process Analyst available as part of this release," continues Fernandez, "an integrated display of trend and alarm data is now possible even at the historian level." Previously only available for SCADA in Vijeo Citect, Process Analyst, the intuitive visualisation and analysis tool, is now also available with Vijeo Historian. Its consolidation of plant processes by combining trend and alarm data into a single view allows for the comparison of historical patterns with a current process disturbance in order to help determine the cause, improve performance and ultimately avoid such upsets in the future.

The enhanced Vijeo Historian V4.20 is positioned to address critical customer needs as well as offer a cleaner look-and-feel. Reporting is made simple with its range of ready-to-use sample reports, including valuable energy reports. The reporting functionality will help customers take full control of their data and facilitates their regulatory compliance requirements.

Additional upgrades in this release include a new Time Server that synchronises local time against a list of resources thereby eliminating discrepancies between time stamps and events, as well as support for the Microsoft Vista and Windows Server 2008 operating systems.
